Navigating the world of various art mediums and portfolio etiquette can be overwhelming for an artist of any age and certainly for a non-artist parent. Having guidance and support in exploring art materials and building up your body of work can feel really supportive, motivating and productive.

Because of my long-time career as a therapist and art therapist (though I’m no longer practicing therapy), I bring additional skills to art coaching, such as empathy, deep listening, reflection of strength and growth areas and excellent communication skills among others. Because the journey of creating art and possibly considering submitting your art for review is a vulnerable one, having an art coach with these extra skills will make all the difference in making the experience one that is positive, wholesome, strengthening and growth-full.

I have been a lifelong artist and thus have had firsthand experience navigating art over my lifetime and even submitting several portfolios in my life. I bring a plethora of technical skills in various mediums over many decades now. I intentionally pursued and developed my artist identity as early as grade school. In high school I apprenticed at a fine art studio in addition to pursuing art at my school. At 18 years old I went directly on to study fine art at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, earning a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree. From there I went to Naropa University for a Master’s in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology & Art Therapy, passionate about supporting others on their paths of self-discovery through their creative process. For nearly 20 years I practiced as a licensed art psychotherapist and currently it's my pleasure to be coaching and guiding in the areas of art and creativity.
