Dreaming…
…is my spiritual practice.
My Dream Journal
to inspire fellow dreamers
Dreaming is indeed and has always been my spiritual practice. After more than 20 years engaged in the art of dreaming, I open my dream journal to you. May my practice and process of conversing with and honoring my dreams serve to encourage and inspire you in your relationship with yours.
April 10, 2004
April 10, 2004 ~ I’m standing with grass under my feet, planting an assortment of plants into the bottom of a white Rubbermaid trash can. I enjoy the feeling of the soil and plants between my fingers. A section of the grass is uncovered and earth worms wriggle around. An old man instructs me. A young boy runs around with the worms. I am concentrating hard on creating a nourishing environment for my plants to grow.

April 4, 2004 ~ A grand arching arena of antiquity made from the earth. It is desolate and has been destroyed over time, long forgotten. I enter each little arched alcove, cleaning and tidying up. I am sure to make them all look the same, with a gold post, a window, two plants and a fireplace.
February 14, 2004
February 14, 2004 ~ I’m getting ready to go out in the rainstorm. I’m looking for my gators to cover the tops of my hiking boots, so water doesn’t seep into my socks.

December 16, 2003 ~ I find a little girl who is lost and help her call her mother but she doesn’t answer, so I take her with me and delight as I watch her play. ~ I am dressed in a white gown at a wedding. The bride calls off the wedding and I console the groom and see the ocean in front of me. ~ On a boat with my cousin and the test is to hold onto the chain above our heads as the boat flies all over the world. I try to save my cousin as he loses his grip.
December 8, 2003
December 8, 2003 ~ Hole in the ground. Snow. Kissing dry lips. A Raven flying. Sad. I stay rather than rush by. Glass window. Burglary. A suspicious shadow.
September 24, 2003
September 24, 2003 ~ I walk a labyrinth that is half in darkness and half in light, with a beautiful tree in the center. It’s crowded and I collide with people and get pushed out of a wooden gate that is tied with rope.
September 22, 2003
September 22, 2003 ~ I see a snowy staircase of carved snow steps ahead of me and know that I have a long journey ahead. I have too many bags in my hand and cannot take the glass of water, too. I know I’ll be thirsty later, but am comforted remembering that there is snow all around me that I may melt and drink from.
September 16, 2003
September 16, 2003 ~ I make my way through a hotel room with a lover, towards the window and see puffs of smoke erupting from the ground. The earth shakes. I hear people screaming. We sink to the floor, kissing.
September 2, 2003
September 2, 2003 ~ I’m in my childhood home and there are dead kittens coming to life in the attic cupboard and I’m terrified to open it. I can hear them meowing. I announce to my family downstairs that this is happening and ask for help opening it up.
September 1, 2003
Dream September 1, 2003 ~ I dream of a raccoon who is upside down in a tree over my house, reminding me to feed myself first, contrary to how I usually feed others first.
August 26, 2003
August 26, 2003 ~ I’m playing with a little girl and she asks me for a gift. I hand her a beautifully wrapped package. She opens it and we’re both surprised and delighted to find that it is a key purse with hundreds of loops to hold all of her keys.
August 25, 2003
August 25, 2003 ~ I’m walking down a long corridor and stop to notice how beautiful it is. The light is bright and warm from the sun. I travel through doorway after doorway. A wooden chair sits in the hall. I feel that I am on my way to pray in a holy place.

August 22, 2003 ~ A painting to begin my new dream journal, using recent symbols from sleeping and waking hours.
